Everyone Has A Story / Absecon photographer captures "wholeness from inside" of women with mastectomies

Donna Andrews has been a portrait photographer for about 11 years. From time to time she would get a woman client who would ask to have nude photos taken.

“I felt comfortable,” said the fine arts major and mother of four, who lives in Absecon. “I did it in a classical style.”

Then Susan Rosenberg, 41, of Linwood — a special education teacher in Atlantic City who had breast cancer, a double mastectomy and reconstructive surgery — asked to be photographed nude. She wanted an album for her boyfriend, Jeff LeFevre, of Linwood, who had been “my biggest support” through 18 months of surgeries, Rosenberg said.

What impressed me the most was the unconditional love for human interaction with people of different color and language. The children of Haiti were not inhabited or did not have a sense of fear because we were different. To me, Haiti is like the Gallegos Island of Anthropology. Color was not a barrier to love or be loved. And they were so free to just touch you.
